Individual, couple, and family therapy. Psychotherapy. Mental Health. Therapy. Counseling. Therapist. Counselor. Nashville, TN

Perry Lines, MT-BC, LMFT

The greatest reward of my work is witnessing the freedom and joy found in healing. My goal as a therapist is to guide each of my clients in mapping the uncharted territory of their inner world, uncovering and mending the wounds and lies that fuel their pain, and discovering new pathways to live the fullest lives available to them. I make every effort to provide the safe, nurturing, and empathic presence my clients need to explore their minds and hearts as they find answers and solutions to a variety of problems.

I believe that each individual possesses great value and worth, regardless of background, and that grounding in this foundation is key to healing. I base my work on this premise and believe that the therapeutic relationship is most effective when founded in consistent, compassionate, honest, clear, and direct communication. I strive to model healthy boundaries and relational skills in the therapy room and see it as a space for my clients to learn, practice, and grow their own skill sets.

Experience

I have worked with diverse clientele primarily in outpatient therapy settings covering a wide range of presenting problems.

During my graduate experience, I worked in the incarceration and reentry settings, providing therapy to clients actively serving sentences as well as transitioning out of prison.

Prior to my experience in marriage and family therapy, I worked as a music therapist doing group therapy in behavioral health hospitals in the Nashville area. I served a variety of populations from acute psychiatric presentations to outpatient care and long-term memory care.

Therapy Interests

I have a passion for treating trauma and am fully trained as an EMDR therapist. I am also a certified SYMBIS facilitator and work with couples seeking either premarital counseling or counseling for other relational conflicts. Other areas of interest include: life transitions, spiritual and existential distress, anxiety, depression, addiction, perfectionism, and family conflict.

While I treat each case uniquely and apply evidence-based standards of care, my approach primarily consists of interventions drawn from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Common Factors, Bowenian Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, EMDR, and various experiential interventions and psychoeducational topics.
